This first process is fundamental to the rest. Write down a to-do list. This sounds a little simple however many people just keep it all in their head and wake up at night stressing about more things that need to be added. Keep a master list of everything you need to do and when you get a light bulb moment add it to the list. The key thing here though is DO NOT use that as your day to day to-do list. That will guarantee overwhelm! If you have a number of projects on the run keep a page for each. Once a week take the few items that you POSTIVELY KNOW you can and must complete this week and put it on your current to do list. Leave the master list out of sight. Then each morning just take off the things that can and need to happen today and put that on your daily list. You only job is to get those few things done. Make sure you leave free space, up to 2 hours, for those emergencies that crop up, no one can control everything! And be realistic about what you can achieve. Most of us overestimate our productivity and underestimate the time it will take. Then just start on the most important and least liked item. The time you have just spent planning may well have switched on that left brain function so you can enter into the task with focus. Especially if you started your planning time with some Brain Gym (see my last blog!) Stay tuned for another couple of great processes that use time (a left brain function) to help you switch on and get stuff done. Copyright © 2010 Create the Life. All Rights Reserved.
